Study Guide Sept. 7th - Sept. 12th

Monday, September 7: God’s Plans: Read Psalm 37:4. When we submit to God’s plans, we can trust our desires. Our assignment is found at the intersection of God’s plans and our pleasures. What do you love to do? What brings you joy? What gives you a sense of satisfaction? The longings of our heart are critical messages and are not to be ignored. God is too gracious to ask you to do something you hate.
Tuesday, September 8: Our Problem Is Sin: Read Romans 12:2. Real change is an inside job. You might alter things for a day or two, but the heart of the matter is and always will be the matter of the heart. Our problem is sin. We are in rebellion against our Creator, and we are cut off from the source of life. That is why the Bible uses terms like conversion, repentance, and lost and found. Society may renovate, but God re-creates.
Wednesday, September 9: Truth In Love: Read Psalm 89:14. The single most difficult pursuit is truth in love. Love is a difficult pursuit, and truth is a tough one too. Put them together and you are in for the ride of your life! Love in truth, and truth in love. Never one at the expense of the other. Never the embrace of love without the torch of truth.
Thursday, September 10: Safe To Believe: Read Romans 6:5-6. The resurrection is an exploding flare announcing to all sincere seekers that it is “safe to believe.” Safe to believe in heaven as our estate and the earth as its porch. Safe to believe in a time when questions won’t keep us awake and pain won’t keep us down.
Friday, September 11: The True Son of God: Read Mathew 8:25-26. Read this verse. Check it out. Open your Bible. Search for another time when the disciples corporately praised Jesus. You won’t find it. Only after the incident at sea did the disciples worship Jesus because they were the ones who were saved.
Saturday, September 12: A Parent’s Precious Prayers: Read Isaiah 54:13. Never underestimate the ponderings of a Christian parent. Never underestimate the power that comes when a parent pleads with God on behalf of a child. Who knows how many prayers are being answered right now because of the faithful ponderings of a parent. God listens to thoughtful parents.
